Once
again Mount Michael hosted another succesful Halloween Dance. On
Wednesday October 29th the Mount Michael students dressed up in
costumes and meet their dates down in the Armory. The atmosphere
was filled with halloween spirit. At the dance, there were lights,
skeletons, balloons and everyone dressed up. Along with all of the
decorations
at the dance was the
food. What would halloween be with out a trick or treat? Cookies,
candy and pop was served. The D.J. of the dance, Tim Hall, was a
Mount Michael alum who graduated last year.
The night started out at 7:00 p.m. Students and friends waited in line to get
in the dance. They each paid three dollars with a costume and if they did not
have one it was five dollars. The night was full of rock n’ roll, hip hop,
and rap.
Of course when everyone is dressed up in costumes, there were certain people
who were worthy of winning the costume contests. There were four categories,
best male, best female, best group, and best couple. The best male costume award
went to senior Matt Core. He dressed up as the “BOX.” When asked
about his reaction to winning the award he commented. “It was really something.” and
everyone gave him a hand. The best female award was won by sophomore Amy Gamm
who sported the army camoflauge look. The best Group was won by a goup of seniors
who dressed as the Chip n’ Dales. They were Seniors John Pieper, Mike Lundgren,
Greg Hall, Andrew Dale, Joe Vacha, and Stash Dwornicki. They all dressed up in
the traditional muscle cut tuxedos and performed a dance for the crowd. The best
couple award went to Sophomores Chris Daly and Matt Goldsmith. They went as the
Sumo Brothers. When asked about winning they commented, “I didnt know if
we would win. We did stand out though! We are pretty huge right now.” Other
costumes that were popular were Chris Gamm’s baby costume, Allen Dugans
entrepenuers costume, a group of seniors as military men, another group of seniors
as the Ghost Busters, Ben Hankey as Cat in the Hat, and Pat Pick and Jake Ridder
as Dumb n’ Dumber.
The night came to an end around 9:00 p.m. All of
the students and friends filtered outside where everyone was glad to catch a
breath of fresh air. The reaction
of the students made the dance look like a success. Junior Ben Suing said, “ It
was a little short, but while it lasted it was a lot of fun.” His date
Meghan Murphy added, “ I think everyone had a good time.” Sophomore
Matt Goldsmith said, “It was fun, but for me HOT!” The guys weren't
the only ones who thought highly of the dance. Sophomore Kelly Haas said, “It
was good to get out and have fun on a school night. It relieves a little bit
of stress. Overall I thought it was fun and I thought the school did a great
job of putting everything together.”Senior Amanda Trienen said, “Yeah
I thought it was fun. The atmosphere was good and the music was pretty good too.”
The night seemed to be a success. A special thanks
goes to the mothers who helped
out and the student council who also helped out. - Photos and Article By
