Tis
the season to be jolly. The Christmas season has finally come. Although
the Michael student body will be celebrating Christmas with their families
at home this year, the junior and senior classes had their own little
celebration enjoying the annual Tree Trimming party with their classmates
and female guests.
On Wednesday night after visits the
students and guests participated in the regular Christmas traditions such as
decorating the Christmas tree, listening to Christmas carols, hanging up lights,
hanging up stockings, and enjoying the presence of the guests. Complimenting
the party were drinks and cookies provided by the wonderful Mount Michael moms.
Junior Brian Stinebaugh, who had the
honor of putting the star on top of the tree, said, “The party was a relief.
It’s what we needed. It was nice to get away from all of that school once
in a while. The only bad part of the night was that my snowball date told me
that she was going with someone else.”
Senior Amanda Michael’s commented, “The party was fun, my school
doesn’t do things like this and I wish we did. It’s neat to
see that you guys do this.”
From 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. the students
and guests decorated the whole Mount Michael Armory and outside entrance to the
Armory in a holiday fashion. The many trees, lights, stockings, wreaths, and
ornaments put the Christmas spice into the Armory.
Junior Ron Kmiecik said, “It’s
nice to have a new atmosphere around here. It gets everyone in the holiday spirit
and is a sign that Christmas is here....and so is basketball and winter break!”
The night was all made possible due
to the Mount Michael moms’ work. A special thanks go out to them. They
helped with the planning, decorating, and refreshments. Also, Mr. Alan Grinvalds
and Mr. Aaron Musson gladly gave up their time to be of assistance and help keep
things under control. A special thanks to them as well.
“Junior Abiola Kosoko said, “ Yeah,
the moms definitely made this one a success. It’s my first one and I already
can’t wait till next year.” - Photos and Article by Matt Haas
