Following the crushing
defeat of the Pender Pendragons, Mount Michael capped off the storybook
ending to their season with a dance in the Armory. "The night
started to get good when Ron Kmiecik finally got the chance to
throw down his tomahawk slam and electrify the Palace," said
sophomore Matt Haas. The Knights had their customary Winter Family
Night after their last home game. While the parents sat in the
student dining room feasting on a smorgasbord of hot dogs, roast
beef sandwiches, cookies, and pop, the Mount Michael students got
a chance to show off their dance moves in the Armory.
The
theme of the Mount Michael dance hosted by National Honor Society
was Mardi Gras. The decor of the dance complemented that theme.
You were also able to purchase
Mardi Gras beads, hats, and masks to wear. Tim Pagett a sophomore at Mount Michael
said, "This was the best Mount Michael dance I had ever been to." Sophomore
Zach Casey added, "It was fun to see Father Louis regulating the premises."
The dance included many of your
traditional Mount Michael dance songs which included, "The
Electric Slide" and "The Cha-Cha Slide." A crowd favorite seemed
to be "The Macarena." Cole Bunner a freshman at Mount Michael said, "I
hadn't heard that song in ages, but I still remembered the dance steps."
Matt Luettel a senior at Mount
Michael said "I could not think of a better
way to go out on my senior night. Not only did we get a victory, I got the chance
to show off my dancing skills."
