On Saturday, May 17th the freshman forensics class gave two performances
of Thomas Hischak’s children’s play Rutherford Wolf.
The story is that of a gentile wolf with allergies who is trying
to find his way out of the sneeze inducing forest in search of a
job in the big city. On his way he stumbles in and out of three famous
fairy tales: The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood and Peter
and the Wolf.
Starring as the fussy but friendly wolf was Reid Anderson. The
Three Pigs were played (in gluttonous form) by Tim Agnew, Zach
Lage and Mason Tye. Zach Pluhacek, who was matched against an energetic
Grant Mathey as Peter, embodied little Red Riding Hood. Rounding
out the cast were excellent performances by Mike Gibilisco, Jono
Matt, Mitch Poe, Mark Tosone and Sean Cox. The production was stage
managed by Brendan Shaughnessy, with direction by Mr. Mark Robinson.
The production had a two-fold purpose. It served as the final
exam project for the freshman forensics class and was also a fundraiser
for the Mount Michael Masquers. The cast and crew really enjoyed
the interaction with the young people who, in turn, seemed to delight
in the production and the Rice Krispie Treats (provided by many
freshmen parents) that were served following the show.
