The beginning of a new school year marks a time when many new
students and staff members alike are drawn to the Mount. This year,
Alumni Mike Walsh and Luke McKnight both decided to donate a year
of their time to help out and see what it’s really like at
Mount Michael “from the other side of the fence”.
Luke McKnight is a graduate of Mount Michael’s class of 1999.
After graduating he enrolled at Saint Louis University where he majored
in Physics. While attending Saint Louis University he studied in
Spain for a semester. This year he returns to Mount Michael to become
the assistant freshman dean. So, what brought him back to the Mount? “I
just really missed the place; I had a great time when I was here.” Mr.
McKnight is planning on attending med school after his stay
at Mount Michael.
Mike Walsh is also a 1999 graduate of Mount Michael. After Mr. Walsh
graduated from the Mount he attended Creighton University where he
majored in Physics.
After
graduating from Creighton, Mr. Walsh decided it was finally time to settle down
and get engaged. Mr. Walsh and his fiance will marry next summer.
What made Mr. Walsh
decide
to
come
back? “I
really needed a break before I set off for grad school, plus, I thought it was
my turn
to give
something back to the school that has given me so much.” When Mr. Walsh
finishes his year here at Mount Michael, he plans on going to grad school and
hopes
to
be
accepted
into M.I.T. or the University of Texas. - Séan
