With every New Year, there come new students to the Mount. Stereotypically, it
is only the freshmen who are the new faces to the Mount. But not this year.
This year, the Mount welcomes five new transfer students to the sophomore class,
hailing from Prep all the way to South Korea.
From South Korea, we welcome Ming Il Rho. Ming transferred to Mount Michael
from Albert Gallatin High School, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was
a transfer student. “I like the school system, teachers, and friends,” Ming
comments, “But I can’t seem to concentrate during school, due
to the heat.”
Another new transfer student is Chan Hoon Park. Chan transferred here from
Central High School, in Champagne, Illinois. “I don’t like not
having any air conditioning in the classroom or dorm,” says Chan, “I
can’t get to sleep at night. But other than that, I like the school.”
Also being welcomed this year is Bryan Vovk, an Omaha native who transferred
to the Mount from Creighton Prep. According to Bryan, Everyone at the Mount
has been very welcoming.
There is another transfer student from Prep this year, Paul Faryna. “I
like the friendly attitude here,” he says, quickly adding, “And
the food.”
And finally, Anthony Zimmerman is also being welcomed to the sophomore
class. Anthony, or Tony to his friends, transferred here from Paloverde High
School, in Las Vegas, Nevada. “The food is better here,” he notes, “But
I don’t like the lack of the female sex.”
