Campaign Sprints for the Finish Line

Mount Michael’s Journey’s End…Just the Beginning Campaign is close to the Finish Line. A Finish Line event was held on October 10th in the gym and student union for alumni and alumni parents. Following a reception in the gym, a short program was held in the Armory.

Keith Allerton, Director of Development and Public Relations welcomed the crowd and Abbot Raphael Walsh, O.S.B. gave the opening prayer. Father Richard Thell, O.S.B. reported on the history of the gym and pointed out the new improvements, Including the new roof, ceiling and windows, supported in part by the capital campaign.

Dave Ciaccio presented the Abbey renovation plans and an eye-opening look at the conditions in the Priory, the 40 year old “temporary” housing that needs to be replaced. Abbot Raphael then announced that the campaign will also fund an upgrade of our outdoor track and field area. This will enable us to host “home” football games, soccer games, and track meets. It will also become an optional venue for outdoor gatherings, such as concerts, dramatic performances and convocations.

Keith Allerton announced that we need to raise $1,018,866 (as of October 10th) to reach our goal of $6.2 million.

The gathering divided into two groups for campaign brainstorming led by Louis and Jackie Sojka, Dave and Cathy Ciaccio, Richard and Pat Garrigan and Larry and Cynthia Kritenbrink. Abbot Theodore concluded the event with a blessing.
