Students
and Faculty Get Together for a Nice Meal
One of Mount Michael’s unique events is the Student-Faculty
Dinner, which started around 6:00pm. The sophomore class dressed
in white shirts and black ties, served as waiters. On the menu
for the night were grilled steak, twice baked potatoes, beans,
dinner rolls, and for dessert, Boston Cream Pie. Under Mr. Cormier’s
direction, the sophomore class had the unique experience of
setting the tables, serving the food to freshmen, juniors, seniors,
Mount Michael faculty members and the monastic community. Afterwards
the sophomores were responsible for cleaning up the dishes and
the dining room.
According
to Fr. Richard, this extraordinary occasion has a history
that goes way back to the 1950’s. It was originally
called the Student-Faculty Christmas Dinner, and it was the
responsibility of the sophomore class just as it is now. The
Student-Faculty Dinner, according to Fr. Richard has always
provided an excellent chance for faculty and students to get
together and share their Christmas spirit. This wonderful
feast, however, used to include a lot more things, such as
singing Christmas carols and a gift exchange. For the Student-Faculty
Dinner, the menu is always special and people dress in a coat
and tie. Sophomore Eric Carlin said, “I think it was
a great success and everyone enjoyed it.” According
to Han-bin Im, also a sophomore, “It was a great experience
for the sophomores and great time for everyone else.”
