“Great,” “Superb,” and “Awesome” were
just some of the words used to describe the Mom Prom which was held
on February 11. The night started off with a social hour where moms,
students, and faculty could mingle. After the prayer led by Abbot
Raphael, dinner was served. “With our empty stomach crying
out, the great gods of culinary feasting answered our pleas,” said
sophomore Jono Matt. One freshman mom said, “I was surprised
by my son’s wonderful table manners.” Next came the speakers,
Fr. Richard said that moms generally landed in the number two ranking
only surpassed by the delicious food. The freshman class president,
Dylan Parlor, was next in line. He commented on his mom and how she
sacrificed her time and work to be there for him. Greg Hall, Student
Council President, spoke next. He said that his mom always wanted
the best for him, no matter what, which was the general feeling that
all the moms shared.
Finally
it was time for the dancing, where everybody could relax and get
jiggy with it. Freshman Joe Willms’ mom when being
asked what her favorite part of the evening was said, “The
dancing of course.” The dancing was the highlight of the evening.
A favorite song was “Stacy’s Mom.” Sophomore Reid
Anderson said, “Dance history was made. There were five people
doing the bob at once!” The dancing also included a giant circle
made during the song “We Are Family” just some more proof
of the great atmosphere during the evening.
“A great time was had by all,” remarked
Br. James Pope. “Our
hearts will treasure this memory forever,” said Sophomore Tim Backes’ mother. “A
great night!” exclaimed Freshman Nick Micalak. Mrs. Cogar when being asked
about her last Mom Prom said, “This is the best prom I have ever experienced” -Article
