The freshman Mount Michael masquers put on their annual children’s
play this past Sunday. The team put on “The Emperor’s
New Clothes” for dozens of delighted theater goers.
The play featured the freshman forensics team performing
a piece that they had been practicing for months. The play started with an introduction
by the narrators,
Paul Hotovy and John Ramsey. It centered around a vein Emperor, played by John
Dewald, who holds a contest to find the person who can make him the most beautiful
new clothes for the parade, which is being held in his new clothes’ honor.
Hearing about the contest two thieves, played by Shane Hanson and Dave Dworak,
decide they have a way to trick the Emperor. They were assisted by the Emperor’s
helpers played by Jacob Pflug, Tom Kenny, and Scott McCandless. Their clever
ploy works and the Emperor learns a valuable lesson.
As the play ended the children in attendance were
invited to join the Emperor in his parade around the Armory, this was one of
several interactive parts the
audience played. After the final bow the guests were invited to enjoy cookies
and punch provided by the kitchen staff. - Article and Photo by Ben Vacha
