On the evening of Wednesday, May
12, the annual Mount Michael scholarship dinner was held. The event
took place in the union, as usual, and
was attended by benefactors of scholarships and the students who
were fortunate enough to receive those scholarships.
The students and benefactors alike look forward
to this event. The benefactors do, because they enjoy meeting the scholarship
recipients, and the students love
the event because they get to enjoy a great dinner and miss some study hall.
Over forty students attended the dinner, representing
over twelve different scholarships.
The evening opened, as all Mount Michael events do, with a prayer led by Father
Abbot. After this pious beginning, the students enjoyed a wonderful dinner, consisting
of chicken and the well-known and loved Boston cream pie.
Following dinner and dessert, development director
Keith Allerton and recruiting director Charlie Collins spoke. Both of their messages
ran along the same lines, including sincere, heartfelt thanks for the benefactors’ generosity and
gifts, as well as for the students’ continued dedication and hard work.
All the students were happy to be recognized and
attend the dinner. The Mount Michael scholarship dinner left all involved with
a feeling of hard-earned appreciation
and gratitude.
