After a quiet, relaxing "Wednesday Night Visit"
the band students returned to the Armory to get to work. The
team drew in a full house and was able to accomplish another
solid performance. Under the direction of Marilyn Theis, the
concert opened with a band performance featuring such songs
as: “Spontaneous Combustion”, “Fly Me to
the Moon”, and a trumpet solo by James Clark “Velvet
Rain”. The band finished the evening with the classic
“Moondog” and bowed to the crowd.
After the band performance was
a violin duet. Junior Kyle Svingen and sophomore Min Ho Chang
performed “Allegro” which was outstanding. “I
was really glad our duet went well,” said Svingen, “I
was a little nervous before the performance, but I have gotten
used to that.”
Following the duet performance
was the string ensemble that performed pieces from Fiddler
on the Roof. The ensemble was perfectly performed and the
team was happy with the night. “I really thought we
did well tonight,” said senior guitarist Reid Anderson,
“the strings definitely were on their ‘A’
game tonight.”
Overall the band students
proved that their work in the early mornings really does pay
off. “Getting up early to go sing and play guitar are
not so much fun,” said senior Brian Vovk, “put
the performances really show the work.”
