Big
turn out for All-Knighter
Last Saturday night, roughly
90 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys came out to Mount Michael to
participate in the 4th Annual Mount Michael All Knighter.
The purpose of the event is for the boys to have fun and understand
what it like to be a part of the Mount Michael community.
The
visitors were split into different groups with one or two
Mount Michael upperclassmen as their group leader. The groups
participated in various sports competitions beginning with
a touch football tournament. Prizes were given out to the
first and second place winners of the tournament. First place
winners received mini-footballs and second place winners received
$10 gift certificates to Best Buy.
After football, Papa John's
pizza and pop were served to the guests and was followed by
a Mount Michael presentation. Mount Michael students discussed
their experience at Mount Michael and why they made the decision
to come to the Mount.
A war ball (dodge ball)
tournament was held after the Mount Michael presentation and
the first place winners received $10 gift certificates to
Blockbuster. After the tournament, Mount Michael students
faced off with the 90 All-Knighters and proved to be victorious.
Later on that evening,
group leaders gave their group members tours of the school,
showing them the classrooms, dormitories and additional facilities.
The night ended with a showing of "National Treasure"
in the student union while others played basketball until
about 2 a..m.
The next morning the All
Knighters attended mass, many with their families, in the
Mount Michael chapel. After mass families filled the student
and monks dining rooms and had juice, coffee and doughnuts.
Overall, the All Knighter was
well attended and if last year is any indication, we should
be seeing many of these boys at Mount Michael as students
in the future.
Also a special thanks
is owed to Kyle Bradshaw, Grant Mathey, Aaron Lockee, Greg
Sullivan, Cole Bunner, Shane Hanson, Jono Matt, Marc Jergovic,
Nick Hall, James Kritenbrink, Phil Schulte, Ben Larsen, Colten
Venteicher and Jea Woo Park. All of these guys volunteered
to help with the event and made it a enjoyable experience
for all those who came.
