Open House shows off the Mount
On Sunday, November 13, after a month of preparations including letters to all interested 8th graders, and invitations to all 5th through 8th graders in catholic school in the Omaha area, Mount Michael held its annual open house.

Teachers explained their department to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and their parents from the surrounding area. Fr. Michael Liebel was in the Chapel giving a pre-tour speech. He was explaining what it was like when he was a student here.

About 20 current students were leading tours, and moms were serving cookies, and punch in the armory. Deans Tim Struckman and Dave Cormier were on the senior floor explaining dorm life. About 60 families attended. Although most of them were 7th and 8th graders, there were 10-15 6th graders as well.

Junior Guy Weinstein, a tour leader, said, “I think it was good because it gave the kids an idea of what Mount Michael is really like.” Admissions Director Jim Clements said, “I think it went pretty well. I would have liked to have more families, but overall it went pretty well. We had the All-Knighter two weeks before.”

The prospective students came mostly from Omaha, but also some were from Fremont, Lincoln, and one from Ashland. Junior tour leader Eric Carlin said “it was a great turnout, and I am excited for the incoming class.”
