Knights have high hopes for districts
Bradshaw      The Knights are on the right path as they head into district tournament play. They are coming off a great regular season with a record of 19-1 and a final regular season rank of 5th in class B. Mt. Michael had a tough schedule this year as 14 of the 20 games they played were against ranked teams in B, C-1, or C-2.
The Knights have brought home some hardware this season as they won the Wayne Holiday Tournament and the Centennial Conference Tournament. Their only loss this season came just after the Wayne Holiday Tournament when the Knights traveled to Syracuse. They shot themselves in the foot by shooting 28% from the field whereas Syracuse shot a mere 42%.
The Knights are heading into district play with a huge loss at hand. A four year starter, Ron Kmiecik, who suffered a torn ACL against Skutt Catholic, will not be able to play in district nor most likely state. The Knights are going to miss his height, shot blocking, rebounding, and the inside presence on offense as well as defense. They will need consistent play from the senior back court of Ben and Blake Suing. Junior Cole Bunner who became a starter this year has lived up to the hype that surrounded him coming into this season. Mt. Michael will also need some quality minutes out of seniors Abiola Kosoko, Scott Lindgren, and junior Kyle Bradshaw. The basketball team, as well as the students and faculty, have high hopes that the team will have great success at districts and hopefully again at the state tournament. Faculty, parents, and students wish the team the best of luck in the postseason. Article By: Scott Ritzman
