Prom: A Night of Dancing and Great Food
On
Wednesday, February 16, at 6 pm, the annual Mother-Son Dance,
more commonly known as the Mom Prom, got under way. During
the social hour mothers and their sons could get their picture
taken in the armory. Something new was added this year. Terry
Wiese, mother of sophomore Aaron Wiese drew portraits of each
member of the senior class.
At 7 p.m. Abbot
Raphael Walsh led the group in prayer. To start the meal,
a caeser salad and rolls were served. Soon after that came
the main course which for the ladies, was chicken, and for
the men was roast beef along with green beans and potatoes.
To top off the meal a slice of apple pie and a scoop of vanilla
ice cream were served. Towards the end of the meal freshmen
class president, Josh Fedde, and gave a speech about how much
his mother meant to him and how much of a privilege it was
for him to speak to the group. After that, Alex McKnight,
president of the student body, also shared how much his mom
meant to him.
Father
Richard Thell went to the podium and shared with the group
some responses he received from a questionnaire given out
to sophomores. Some of the questions were: “What advise
would you give to a freshmen about mom prom?” “What
is the best thing about mom prom?” Following that Father
Richard announced that we all partake in the annual mom prom
tradition, which is kissing your mother. After that the fun
part started, the dancing! People really seemed to enjoy the
night, “I never thought it could be so much fun,”
said sophomore Nick Michalack.
The night concluded
around 10 p.m. with class pictures.
