A
Note from the Mount's Trainer!
Hello, everyone! Quicktime
Panorama - by Jesse Tye
Here's a little update on the
progress of the weight room. After we knocked down the walls
to expand into the old woodshop, we added a couple power racks
(for squats), two lifting platforms, an incline bench, a flat
bench and some bumper plates for power lifting exercises.
Since then, we received a generous
donation to continue our improvements. Our plans are to finish
with the renovation which will involve adding the equipment
room space, taking out the old plywood floor and putting in
a new, rubber floor, plumbing work (removing pipes and adding
a water fountain), electrical work and painting. A lot of this,
we hope, can get accomplished during the spring break period.
In
fact, a couple weeks ago, with the help of almost all the freshmen,
we emptied out the equipment room and knocked down the equipment
room walls, giving us almost another 300 sq. ft.. Mrs. Raabe
even got in the action, swingin' the sledge. The plumber is
scheduled to make it out this week sometime and I hope to throw
some paint on the wall this weekend.
Next week, some of the faculty
have expressed willingness to come tear up the old plywood floor,
and barring any major complications, we should be able to level
out the old tile floor and get prepared to lay out a nice, durable,
rubber floor. And that's what the basis of this email will hopefully
cover. If you or anyone you know has knowledge about any deals/specials
on rubber flooring or is an expert rubber floor installer, please
contact me with any information you might have. The floor is
almost like the center piece to the facility, so we'd like it
to look sharp.
On
a side note, Mr. Ridder and I just finished up with an eight-week
winter conditioning program and we're both very enthused with
the work ethic these guys displayed. They seemed to be more
energetic and excited than in years past and I can only hope
it will be contagious. I'm sure some of you have noticed quite
a physical change in your son's appearance and I've noticed
a positive change in confindence in a lot of them as well.
Thank you and we'll see a lot
of you at state!
Tim Struckman, CSCS
p.s.
To cover the weight room we will need ten rolls of rubber floor
at 4' W 50' L.
The room is approximately 1915 sq. ft. |
