| "A
Knight in Hollywood" Enjoyed by All
“I’d never seen
the Armory so jazzed up,” Mount Michael junior Sean
Cox said while commenting on this year’s Prom. “I
was really impressed,” Cox added.
“A Knight in Hollywood”
was this year’s prom theme. Colorful lights,
smoke, confetti, posters and cardboard cutouts were all part
of the elaborate décor. “My date looked gorgeous,”
commented junior Matt Goldsmith, “and so did the armory.
Mr. Robinson did a great job.”
Mark Robinson, sophomore dean
at Mount Michael, was in charge of the decoration committee
at this year’s prom. Robinson and his decoration team
labored after school on Friday, all day Saturday and into
the morning hours on Sunday. Robinson described the time he
put into the set up and clean up: “I worked eight and
a half hours Friday after school, ten hours on Saturday, and
seven hours on Sunday cleaning up.”
Sophomore Scott McCandless thought
that Robinson’s long hours really paid off. “Seeing
the Armory like that was pretty awesome.” McCandless
also added, “I was a little disappointed in the turnout.”
Forty-three couples attended
this year’s “Knight on Broadway.” Brooke
Colson, a sophomore at Westside High School, was taken aback
by the number of people that attended prom. “It was
a lot smaller than I imagined. At Westside, we held our prom
at the Western Heritage Museum.”
The prom kings for each class
were announced around 11:00. The D.J., Tim Hall,
announced the names as the students waited anxiously. Pat
Pick won for the sophomores, Chris Daly took the crown for
the juniors and Chris Sanchez was victor for the seniors.
Pat Pick was overjoyed. “It was pretty exciting being
crowned king and all. It made the night a little more thrilling.
I just want to thank my classmates.”
“I’d say prom was
an overall success,” Cox concluded. A big thank you
is due to Mr. Robinson and all the people who helped set up
the fabulous decorations for this year’s prom. “The
décor made the night,” junior Mike Gibilisco
commented. “It was definitely an unexpected surprise.”
