On Wednesday, Jan. 25, 12 Mount Michael juniors and seniors
left for San Francisco, California to participate in
the Harvard Model Congress. The HMC, which is also held
at Boston, Massachusetts in March , is a program designed
to allow high school students to work as congressmen
and go through the process of turning bills into laws.
The students who attend the HMC were juniors Kelson Hedderich, Tom Kenny, Stefan
Sawtelle, Jack Pritchard, Jack Horgan and seniors Tim Prost, Scott Durrie, Yifan
Li, Matt Goldsmith, Chris Daley, Sam Weitkemper, and Kyle Buschelman. All of
the students believed the HMC was a learning experience.
“The congress was a very fun way to learn how our government works. We
were actually able to participate in a live congress, which was pretty cool,” said
Sawtelle.
Teacher Terrance Buschelman was the proctor
for the event. He was a faculty advisor at the HMC and gave help to the committees
whenever he could. Article by: Jack Horgan
