Knights in Rio Enjoyed By All

The Night of Knights fundraiser, which is one of Mount Michael's greatest sources of income, was held on Saturday, April 1st. This event is held every year, and features a silent auction, a live auction, dinner, and several presentations. “It is a fun evening and a great way to raise money for the school,” said sophomore parent Barb Lundgren.

This evening would not be possible without the help of many students, parents, and others who volunteered to help with the event. Students participated by running bids in the silent auction and walking guests in from their cars. Several guests of note attended, including the governor’s wife.

Guests of Honor for the event were Ted and Adele Hazer, with Honorary Chairpersons being Jon and Becky Bischof and Robert and Margaret Broderick.

The chairpersons who organized this year’s Night of Knights were Larry and Cynthia Kritenbrink.

The evening opened with a social hour in the armory, where all visitors could look at the items in the silent auction. During the social hour, the Mount Michael student ambassadors collected donations, and sold raffle tickets and boxes from Borsheims. Afterwards, the guests went into the gym, where they were served their dinner. Pat Persaud was the master of ceremonies.

During dinner, Mount Michael Masquers Zach Lage, Dan Whitaker, Zach Harvat, and their partners danced to a salsa. Other students were assigned to tables to run bids for the silent auction. A live auction was held as the evening came to a close. Items auctioned in the live auction included several vacations and the rights to name the road leading up to Mount Michael, currently name Ben's Boulevard.

The night was a great way to bring Knights and others together to have a good time for a good cause. In the end, all those who volunteered helped to make the seventeenth annual Night of Knights a roaring success.
