Seniors Unite in Final Week of School
As graduation is nearing, 46 Mt. Michael seniors are coming together as a whole and retelling stories as well as making new memories to look back on when they graduate.
On April 25, the senior class went to the home of Dr. John Drahota ’82 and wife Pat Persaud for the annual Senior/Alumni get together. In the past this event was held at Indian Creek Golf Course, but this year Fr. John wanted to change things and have a place for the seniors to enjoy themselves. Even though the weather wasn’t the greatest the senior class enjoyed their time at the beach house of the Drahota’s. The seniors listened to music while playing sand volleyball, horseshoes, football, and even warmed up sitting around a bonfire. Alumni John Levy ’99 and Pat Flood’82 accompanied the class on the outing. John told the seniors to keep in touch with their classmates throughout college and use what they learned at Mt. Michael and use it in college. Tim Backes had this to say about the evening, “Having the whole senior class together for an evening was a blast and I loved competing against my friends in sand volleyball.”
On April 26, the seniors and their parents attended the last class mass at Mt. Michael. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Louis who gave out key chains that had the Benedictine Cross on it. Fr. Louis' personal gift to the class was a candle that represented light in their lives. After the mass the seniors and parents strolled to the Union where they enjoyed complimentary ice cream and watched the senior video. Reid Anderson commented, “The video left me flustered and mustered quite a reaction from the class.” The seniors have grown together since the first day as freshmen, and will always remember their classmates. The whole class would like to thank Fr. John, Fr. Louis, and the rest of the monks for organizing the annual Senior/Alumni get together, and for all their work over the course of the past four years
