Weitkemper Named: All-Academic Team

       On Sunday May 7, 2006 Mount Michael senior Sam Weitkemper and his fellow All-Academic Team members and their families were honored at a brunch sponsored by the Omaha World Herald. The featured speaker was World Herald Columnist Mike Kelly the father of Mount Michael alumnus Kevin Kelly '92.

      This 13th annual Omaha World-Hearld brunch salutes "academic excellence by acknowledging the very best high school students in Nebraska and western Iowa" The team was selected by a panel of distinguished educators.

From the Program: "... Son of Richard and Maureen Weitkemper. Ranked 1st in his class of 46, he scored a perfect 36 on the ACT and 2280 on the SAT. He was a National Merit Finalist and competed in UNL Science Bowl and UNL Math Day. He was a member of state championship soccer and tennis teams. he plans to major in mechanical engineering."
