National
Honor Society Brush Up
With
the beginning of the school year comes the NHS’s
annual participation in the “Brush
Up Nebraska” Paint-a-thon.
Mount Michael’s National Honor Society has participated
in the project since 2001. This year over 30 members of the
NHS met at the 132nd and Maple Street Target store from which
they proceeded to their project home. The swarm of NHS members
completed the house painting in about 2 hours.
“Brush
Up Nebraska” began
in 1989. Its purpose is to organize and provide volunteers
to paint and fix up
the homes of low income elderly and low-income disabled homeowners.
This year the organization surpassed the 2000 home mark for
homes painted over the last 18 years
