Booster
Club Enhances Tradition
Since the earliest days of Mount Michael Benedictine the
school year has started off with an all family Mass and
picnic under the pines. A simple yet significant and
very nice change to the tradition occurred this year.
Rather than every family bringing their own picnic dinner,
the “Booster Club” provided food for everyone.
Volunteers started showing up at about 12:30 for preparing
the food, setting up the serving line and getting the grills
stoked. By the time Mass was held under the pines at 4:00
pm everything was ready. After Mass the crowd of over 600
people was served in about 20 minutes using 4 separate serving
lines manned by the seniors. The main course was brats, burgers,
and hot dogs.
Before,
during, and after the dinner, everyone had their pictures
taken for the school directory. Near the conclusion
the drawing for the Booster Clubs raffle was held. This year’s
lucky winner of 4 season tickets to this years Nebraska football
games was Charles Eldred.
After
the clean up crew finished cleaning up the picnic grounds
many of them gathered south of the school to enjoy
root beer floats and a few minutes of relaxation.
This
year marks the 3rd year since the Booster Club began. The
club has already accomplished many great things and if
this picnic is any indicator it should be a fantastic year
with may great things to come. To learn more about the Booster
Club make sure to check out its webpages using the link on
the school’s homepage.
