Knights
take 1st; 3rd in All Classes
The Mount Michael Math Team once again found outstanding success
at the UNL Math day held recently in Lincoln. 1,400 students
from 94 schools participated in the contest. Mount
Michael had seven students place in the top 50 on the written
exam!
There
were three parts to the competition. In the Math
Bowl Tournament Mount
Michael Benedictine took 1st place in Class C. On
this team for Mount Michael
were
Josh Cox, Rio Kim, Sam
Lathrop, Luke Weitkemper, and Andrew Wimmer.
On
the
Written Exam (PROBE I) Mount Michael Benedictine
again took 1st place in their class with a score of 71.67.
This score was good
enough to place them 3rd among all Classes.
 Lincoln
East (84.6), Creighton Prep (74.4), Mount Michael
Benedictine (69.7), Westside
(67.6), Lincoln Southwest (67.2)
The Top
50 out of 1400 individuals took part in an Essay
(Probe II)
Among the 7 Knights that placed in the top 50, Sam Lathrop
took 10th place and received a $2,000 scholarship. Sam is
the
son of
Joe & Pam
Lathrop of Valley Nebraska. The other Knights in the top 50
were Don Park, Gunhee Park, Jung-Gon Kim, Rio Kim, Jeong-Woo
Lee, Jae-Woo Park.
