The Mount Welcomes New Teachers
Mount Michael is very happy to welcome three new teachers to this year’s faculty, Mr. Nick Modrcin, Mr. Chad Schuttler, and Mr. Rob Walker.

Mr. Modrcin and his wife, Julie, have two sons.. Although Mr. Modrcin is new to the Mount, he is not new to teaching. He has 36 years of teaching experience the last 26 of which were at Valley/DC West.

Mr. Modrcin says he thinks he is very lucky to have found an opening at Mount Michael and his biggest challenge is “living up to Mount Michael’s standards.”

In his free time he enjoys restoring old cars, hunting, and golfing. Be warned though, he says he cheats at golf!

Freshmen and sophomore spanish students are being taught this year by Chad Schuttler. Mr. Schuttler may be new to the current student body but is known by many alumni having taught at Mount Michael from 1995-2001. Most recently he was teaching at Prep (2004-2007). He says he was drawn to return to teach again at the Mount because of the sense of community in the small school environment. He also likes the high caliber academic program of Mount Michael.

When he has free time he enjoys remodeling his home, landscaping and travel.

Mr. Rob Walker teaches freshmen and sophomore social studies class and War and Civilization to the upper classmen. Mr. Walker is in his first year of teaching. He was attracted to Mount Michael because of its Benedictine nature. After graduation from Creighton he spent 10 weeks living in Benedictine monasteries and found “the monastic life, milieu, and wisdom highly appealing and has much to offer the world and is an ideal environment for education.” He says the rigorous academics appeal to him and finds working with exceptional students easy.

Mr. Walker enjoys running, biking, ultimate frisbee, reading and playing the drums. But most importantly he enjoys spending time with his wife Allison.

Mount Michael is very please to have these fine teachers added to the Mount Michael community.
