Fr.
Michael Recieves Vernier Award
The
National Science Teachers Association recently
awarded Fr. Michael Liebl O.S.B. with the Vernier
Technology Award. This award recognizes the innovative
use of data collection technology using a computer, graphing
calculator,
or handheld in the science classroom. Annually this
national award recognizes seven individuals in the
following categories: one elementary (grades K–5); two
middle level (grades 6–8);
three high school (grades 9–12) and one college.
The Award
consists of a $1,000 prize, $1,000 in Vernier products
and an all expense paid trip to attend the NSTA
National Conference on Science Education. where the awardees
are honored at an Awards Banquet during the NSTA Conference.
The
award winning science project Fr. Michael developed was
called "A Flashlight with No Batteries". To
